United Methodist Women
Enjoy a light lunch, brief meeting and a variety of programs most often on the second Sunday of each month following worship.
2011 began with the video presentation of a friend’s lifelong work in Guatemala. John and Alice Brawand, working as Wycliffe Bible translators, reduced the Rabinal Achi language to writing, taught many to read their own language for the first time, and translated the Bible into the native community’s dialect.
Special service programs will include Giving a Gift of Love, Letting Go to Be Thankful, and Finding, Giving and Living Peace. We maintain an active prayer calendar—we can’t all go to the mission field, but we can support missionaries around the world through prayer, sending birthday cards and reading brief descriptions of their work.
Keep watch for details on a delightful Ladies Tea coming up in April. Join us at another gathering when one of our members will share her expertise on personalized card making. Take a virtual trip with another member who went to a distant place: the Galapagos Islands.
Our yearly geographical program for 2011 is Haiti. We will meet in a member’s home, learn about the culture, sample a food and make a craft representative of the country.
Participate in the Reading Program. Explore a variety of books that will help you become knowledgeable on current Christian issues. Focus areas include mission, social action, nurturing for community, spiritual growth, and leadership development.
Reach out to others with us as we collect items for those in need. Join us on Friday mornings as we work on craft projects, fold bulletins and newsletters, and enjoy fellowship with each other.
